Areff has extensive experience in industrial identification systems for the implementation of INDUSTRY 4.0 and IoT (Internet of Things). Many customers also use our products to create new features in an existing product and to be able to communicate with the end customer via NFC (Near Field Communication) in order to add value to the product.

Being able to control the authenticity of products as an end user is a feature that is becoming more and more important. Areff offers and has delivered a number of different solutions for secure authenticity certificates to global customers.

Authenticity certificates – Trusted Identity

The solution that we here at Areff uses is based on HID Global Trusted Tag® Services. It builds on a combination of cryptographically secured NFC-key fobs or Bluetooth- beacons that communicate via a cloud-based authentication. This creates a unique and secured identification of an object that can be read by all types of NFC-units, like Android and iOS smartphones.

The solution is perfect for example… Verifying the authenticity for a marked product and by that creating an improved experience for the customer. You can apply the solution when a caregivers presence is required in a home and that personal identity needs to be verified before access to the patient (electronic visit verification). Check-in during a patrol for a guard or other variations of maintenance.

Cards with NFC (Near Field Communication) can communicate with all kinds of readers and smartphones that support NFC. The NFC-technology is based on wireless communication that operates on the frequency of 13,56 Hz, which can be applied between a card and a reader or one reader to another (Peer-to-Peer).

The word “Near Field Communication” comes from that the devices which communicate using “NFC” (Cellphones, bus card, readers etc) do not need to be connected, instead, they just need to be near each other.A cellphone can be used to read the information stored in a so-called “NFC-tag” or “NFC-Key fob”. This information could be a command that tells the cellphone in question to activate or deactivate a nearby WIFI. A modern business card can also include NFC-technology, which means that all the personal contact information that has been stored inside of it could be transferred directly into a cellphone when holding up against it.

By including an RFID or NFC-key fob into an existent product, you have created a communications-point for the internet.

Imagine this: A company manufacture bicycles and in the handle of every bicycle, they include an NFC-key fob that is programmed to contain a link to that companies website. The Web-link in each handle is unique for that bicycle, which makes that the first time the owner uses the link he is asked to log in and create an account and add his newly purchased bicycle to said account. This creates an exciting experience for the customer when the bicycle communicates back to the rider. Each time the user reads his “handle”, he could receive different and unique promotions, various information about his bicycle, a nearby event or the option to buy gadgets or spare parts and much more. At the same time, the company has a way of contacting the customer directly and can make a more tailored offer and promotion to its clients.

The same principle can be applied in other kinds of products and also be combined with other types of information such as the person position, weather, age etc.

The possibilities are endless…

With ”Internet of Things” (IoT) you refer to ordinary household items, clothes and accessories, but also machines, vehicles and structures with attached electronics and access to the internet that make them viable for remote control-steering and transfer of data over the web.

The Network creates a possibility to control and share information between objects and locations to ease the incorporation of those things into the PC-system. When objects contain sensors and actuators they become an example of cyber-physical systems, where also smart houses, smart power grids, digital assistants and intelligent transportation systems belong.

With the help of an RFID key fob, an NFC-tag or a beacon, you can easily integrate objects and products that could not previously be a part of the IoT.

Industri 4.0, Industrie 4.0, Industry 4.0 or the fourth industrial revolution is a term that group up to several technologies and concepts in the area of automation, the industrial process of IT and manufacturing-technologies. The concept is connected to IoT (Internet of Things) and gives every object in the line of production the ability to carry information about where it is going and how making it possible for the factory to organize itself. The target of this is to create a production with shorter changeover and lead times, fewer errors, more flexibility and no need for time-consuming programming. The concept is seen as a solution to create a “reindustrialisation” of the western world.

With the help of an RFID key fob, an NFC-tag or a beacon, you can easily integrate objects and products that could not previously be a part of the IoT and by that function in a solution that is based on INDUSTRY 4.0.
